Basra announces establishment of a museum in the marsh environment

The Committee for the Management of nature reserves in the governorate of Basra has announced that it is in the process of establishing a museum on biodiversity in the marshlands environment and taking new measures to operationalize tourism in water-surface areas.




"The Committee for the management of the nature reserves in Basra, which includes representatives from all competent institutions and services agreed at a meeting chaired by Governor Asaad Aydani on the establishment of a museum of the marsh environment, including stuffed animals and maps Many articles on crafts and folk industries in those areas. "




"The museum will be attached to the Commission's headquarters at the site of the typical boat marina in the Manzori area adjacent to Hor al-Mashob," he said.




"The Committee is working on the establishment of the museum with the aim of activating tourism in the marsh areas, and other measures have been agreed upon," the Committee's rapporteur and teaching at the Faculty of Agriculture of the Basra University, Nuri Abdel Nabi Nasser, said.




"The measures include the identification of ports of entry and departure of tourists to the Basra marshes, and the marking of aspects of the roads leading to the marshes, as well as the paving of one of those roads," Nasser said.




The marsh areas in Iraq cover vast tracts of Basra, Maysan and Dhi Qar governorates, estimated to be 8,000 square kilometers, and are replete with fish rivers and many other aquatic species such as shrimp (shrimp), as well as different types of plants, mainly reeds and papyrus.




Other plants are what is known locally as the Colan, Hooksan, Anker, Habilas, the Ducks, the Selhu, his defect and the Halbalab.




As a result of the moderation of its climate, these areas mean large numbers of migratory birds that settle and proliferate during the winter, and with the beginning summer these birds return to their native countries in Scandinavia, Kazakhstan, Russia and China among major seasonal migrations.




The marshes are endemic to the world's rare endangered animals, including a soft fur.
